Our Story
We attended Valley City High School but were separated by a few grades and never crossed paths. At the ripe age of 18, Devon started out as a realtor in Fargo/Moorhead and met Laura and Dustin Weber at an open house. They didn’t know who he was but Devon recognized Laura as “Emily McKay’s sister” ;) (Names are usually reversed) When he said he was a senior, they asked ‘what college?” To which he replied “Senior in high school”. They made sure to plug his name to Emily after that.
Several years later, we finally and fatefully crossed paths. Emily was in nursing school at the University of Jamestown and Devon was growing Arrow Advisors in Fargo, ND. We took our first trip together at the end 2019 to the Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona. That’s when we knew! A short 3.5 years later, we’ve bought our very first home, became 5am morning workout people, and lived for our favorite titles of auntie and uncle. In Devon’s non-existent spare time, he began law school at Mitchell Hamline in Saint Paul, MN.
On May 8th, 2023 at Orchid Falls on the grounds of the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, in front of a heart shaped bed of roses and marquee letters laid out above it that said “Marry Me”, Devon proposed with a thoughtful, well practiced speech and created tears in both of our eyes. It was all captured by a photographer in hiding so we can relive that iconic morning forever!
We are so excited for this next chapter together of starting a family, building a law practice and making endless memories with our favorite people. Life is about the people you spend it with and we can’t wait to celebrate with you on our wedding day!
